If you have a network that doesn't support CDP (such as an all Juniper<br>
network), LLDP will do the job for you, as long as your phone supports<br>
it. The latest Polycom sip firmware supports it (but none of their<br>
older phones can run the new firmware, just the newer ones), as well<br>
as the latest bootrom. The Cisco 79x1 series and newer support it, but<br>
not the older 79x0 series. I believe I spoke with Aastra and Snom at<br>
the Astricon tradeshow and they said they support it on their newer<br>
models as well.<br>

LLDP is fine if you can't run CDP for whatever reason, the main<br>
sticking point is the phone support.<br></blockquote><div><br>Lately, I've seen more and more phones (Aastra, Thomson, ...) support LLDP (in fact LLDP-MED) but you're right to underline some older models can't support it.<br>
