Although you say "SIMPLE"...not all virtualization hosts allow software installation.  On VMware the host has become an appliance you can't really mess with...

Be sure to also create /dev/dahdi/{ctl,timer,pseudo,channel} for the
container, as they're likely not be allowed to create device files.
