Since you appear to be trying to run from the 1.6.0 branch, then you would want 
to grab the latest from that branch:

svn co http://svn.digium.com/svn/asterisk/branches/1.6.0 asterisk-1.6.0-vanilla

If you check out from trunk, you are getting the latest code, which currently 
will eventually be branched out to 1.6.2 (which contains new functionality and 
typically more core changes). Once something has been branched from trunk, then 
only bug fixes go into that branch (and essentially goes through the release 
cycle just like the 1.4.x branch -- no new features, bug fixes and security 
fixes only).
