[asterisk-users] Record in mp3

The recording I want is to save some reminders that my users can record. It is not to save a conversation. So I think that there is not an overhead in converting the audio on the fly in this case. But the question is: Asterisk suport generate mp3 files directly?

you probably don't want to record directly to mp3 as there will be an overhead in converting the audio on the fly and this will probably break your call recordings... you should either record in the codec you are using for phone calls (i think?) or in .wav and then convert afterwards (correct me if i'm wrong someone!).

But have you tried to record directly in mp3, without to covert the file?

The way I read to do this is to use sox to
create a wav file, then use lame to convert the wav to mp3.  I did this for
some MOH files.

  "/var/spool/asterisk/alarme/alarme-1201-200905121212:mp3") in new
  stack

      -- <SIP/1201-083453c8> Playing 'beep' (language
  'pt_BR')
