Routers, including the Cisco 3845, shouldn't reboot because you used
SIP. If it's a known issue with that firmware, then upgrade does seem
like the answer. And reboot? Really? I've seen one problem that sent
cpu load to 100% on the 3845, and that was a known issue. We did the
reboot ourselves.

If you haven't found it's a known issue (on google and the cisco
forums) with that version, you should report the problem to Cisco, as
you may have a hardware problem rather than a software problem. Of
course, getting the firmware to upgrade the router, or reporting the
problem to Cisco is dependent on you having a support contract with
Cisco. This doesn't cost much compared to the cost of a fully loaded
Cisco 3845, and certainly costs less than having a broken router.
