[asterisk-users] What is in practice the maximum no of simultaneous calls that Asterisk 1.4 can handle

Hello!
   I've recently heard from one person, doing more than 500 calls. I'm sure it 
depends a lot on the server-computer(s) and the peripheral hardware 
(ISDN-cards, network-cards, etc.).
   I must pass, when it comes to more detail or other practical results.
