You are right, changing the codec to something other than G729 or G723 will prevent the TC400B from being used and would allow you to isolate the issue.

However, I'm working on a new codec_zap / transcoder / wctc4xxp interface to primarily handle a condition where some remote system sends a G729B comfort noise packet even though we didn't advertise support for it.  

I'm soon going to petition for this interface to be merged into the trunk, so if you would like to try the branches out now and need any help, please contact me directly.
