The problem I had was caused by an apperantly bad implementation of the
PCMA codec in the version of SIP firmware that I used  (SIP11.8-0-3). I
have to use PCMU codec (ulaw) in order to avoid the sound problems in
the SIP calls.

could this also be the problem of the voicemail?
