[asterisk-users] Paging to external speaker like in airports etc...

Folks,

I appreciate both sides of this one.

Yes, you should google everything prior to asking for help -- but you can
get much better answers from people.

I wanted to install a doorphone and yes
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/view/Asterisk+phone+door has valid info if you
try to search for specifics it doesn't help all that much. I had a heck of
a time finding a vendor that sold the Viking products who actually had a
valid description of the differences in models and accessories. Also didn't
find anything really about the video.

As far as paging goes:

The wiki has better information here, including some specific models of
equipment:
http://www.voip-info.org/wiki/index.php?page=Asterisk+Paging+and+Intercom.
It seems to me that the best way to handle paging is with an FXS port (card,
ata, etc..) connected to either a Bogen or a Viking paging system.

Hopefully that's the information that you were looking for.

What would help is if once you setup your paging system -- you post a
detailed HOWTO. Tell exactly what equipment you used, if you found a good
source/vendor, show examples of your *.conf files and tell of any
limitations. Then if someone asks again point them to this.
