Debian's linux-image-2.6.22-2-686, version 2.6.22-4.

I thought this might be due to the fact that this is a Dual Core
Processor, so I tested using "maxcpus=1" as a parameter to the kernel. This did not
resolve the problem. The CPU is:

model name : AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4200+
