Hmm, can't add much except that I use SecureCRT from Windows XP to
connect to multiple Asterisk machines and regularly put my machine in
suspend (close the lid) while connected to console (AstLinux machines
included), and haven't seen the same problem.

I haven't used PuTTY in a while so maybe that's where the problem lies.

What version of Windows/PuTTY are you using?
