Mark,

  What is your Asterisk system doing (or what does it need to do)?

  When I have used Heartbeat with Asterisk, I have always found it
better to use the resources file with Heartbeat to load modules to
take over resources.  For instance, in an all SIP environment you can
usually just takeover the IP address and load chan_sip.
