I just tried:

exten => 998,1,Answer
exten => 998,2,Background(agent-newlocation)
exten => 998,3,Set(TIMEOUT(digit)=5)
exten => 998,4,ResponseTime,10
exten => _XXXX,1,Dial(SIP/${EXTEN}@{SERADDRESS},60,tr)
exten => i,1,Playback(pbx-invalid)
exten => i,2,hangup


This gives me:
    -- Executing Answer("SIP/998-b6600ea0", "") in new stack
    -- Executing BackGround("SIP/998-b6600ea0", "agent-newlocation") in
new stack
    -- Playing 'agent-newlocation' (language 'en')
    -- Executing Set("SIP/998-b6600ea0", "TIMEOUT(digit)=5") in new stack
    -- Digit timeout set to 5
Nov  6 07:54:17 WARNING[5503]: pbx.c:1700 pbx_extension_helper: No
application 'ResponseTime' for extension (context, 998, 4)
  == Spawn extension (context, 69697602, 4) exited non-zero on
'SIP/998-b6600ea0'


Looks like 'ResponseTime' is giving problems...
