If you don't need to authenticate, then you don't need a register command.
Get rid of register => whatever and just have:
exten => _X.,1,dial,SIP/${EXTEN}@carrier

Subject: [Asterisk-Users] Got SIP response 405 "Method not acceptable"
backfrom xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Hi, Im trying to register to a SIP provider that told me that they
only need to authenticate using IP.

the following string generates response 405
register => asteriskIPaddress at SIPproviderIP:5060

doing the following is not alowed by asterisk
register => @SIPproviderIP:5060

any ideas?
