The variables can be inherited prefixing the variables names with underscore(s)

The "Inheritance of Channel Variables"

for the second issue ( get the channel name of the call that initiated
the transfer ) please check this:

Is a patch i have made to support that. Please report feedback to get
this in asterisk trunk ASAP.
