Zaptel does not work on OSX because of OSX - not because of Mac hardware 
or open firmware.  I used to use Digium hardware in my G4 tower running 
Linux.  Actually, about a year ago it was all the rage due to the 
plethora of interrupts on that architecture.  I'm sure people still do 
it now, it just hasn't been discussed recently.
