As my testbox is a PII-750 running A at H 2.2 I did:
cd /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/
wget http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/codec_g723-gcc-pentium2.so
wget http://kvin.lv/pub/Linux/Asterisk/codec_g729-gcc-pentium2.so
After reloading, 'show translation' gives:
