So you created .so file, well.
I made only:
 load app_rxfax
 load app_txfax
at Asterisk console. 
Next restart, they will be loaded automatically, if you have autoload=yes in
modules.conf
Do you get errors?

Fax support in Asterisk is not mature for a production use (IMHO).
