Garth,

this is my sip-configuration for a fax machine at a AT386
; SIP Accounts Analog devices like Faxmachines
[analogdefaults](!)
  type=friend
  host=dynamic
  dtmfmode=info
  disallow=all
  allow=gsm
  allow=alaw
  allow=ulaw
[222](analogdefaults)
  context=sip-ol
  callerid="Fax" <222>
  username=222
  secret=123
;

The ATA adapter itself is configured as follows:
Fax Mode:  	  (x) T.38 (Auto Detect)    Pass-Through

so, I don't even have configured Pass-Through
