[asterisk-users] dtmf during a call

I've been asked to look into this for security reasons:

During a call, a credit / debit card payment may be required. At the
moment, the card details are given over the phone. This is not ideal for
obvious reasons.

I was wondering if it would be possible

a) for the agent to ask the caller to enter their card details by
pressing the numbers during the call.

b) for the caller to be transferred to a new extension where they enter
their details, and the agent goes on hold. When the details have been
entered then the caller is returned back to the agent.

I know that we could ask the caller to ring again to a different number,
or get the agent to transfer the caller to the new extension, but was
wanting the agent to remain connected to the caller after the details
have been entered.

Anyone done anything similar ?

Thanks in advance

Julian
