It works great here on my 7960
You have to use the hint exten as normal.

Then for the phone setup speeddails in the sccp.conf file:

speeddial = numbertodial,name,exten at context

One of mine looks like this:
speeddial = 6002,Livingroom,6002 at internal

This is a per device setting
