[Asterisk-Users] Asterisk 1.0 released

Hi,

Up until now the advice on installing asterisk seems to have been to
checkout zaptel, libpri, and asterisk from
:pserver:anoncvs at cvs.digium.com:/usr/cvsroot and then do "make install"
in each directory.

Is this still the recommended method of installation?  Or is it now "get
the latest tarred release?"

Also - forgive me if this is a silly question - are numbered releases
just snapshots of the CVS HEAD?  If not - how do they relate to what is
in CVS?
