[Asterisk-Users] Asterisk not playing sounds after Kernel upgrade?

Last night I updated to a custom 2.4.27 kernel, I also upgraded
asterisk. This morning I discovered Asterisk is no longer playing sounds
to users. ie when they go to the voicemail, asterisk says it's playing
vm-login but the user never hears it. It's not a firewall issue or
anything like this, as it worked before the upgrade.
I thought maybe the latest CVS was the problem (CVS-HEAD-09/08/04- so I
downgraded back to CVS-HEAD-08/17/04-18:04:25 which is what I was using
earlier. No luck, still can't hear sounds it plays.
It has to be the kernel, but I can't figure out what option I'm missing
that would not allow it to play back sounds. It's a Dell 1U server with
a single SCSI hard drive, no Sound Card. I didn't compile in support for
anything it didn't have, I didn't compile any USB support, Sound
Support, only the IDE chipset it had was selected, and only the SCSI
controller it had was selected.
When I upgraded to the new kernel, I then compiled the latest
zaptel/libpri/asterisk and then compiled zaprtc and loaded the module,
so that now I'd have timing support. When I just downgraded Asterisk to
see if that fixed the problem, I didn't downgrade to the older
libpri/zaptel nor did I unload zaprtc. Maybe one of those is causing the
problem?
