Whoa!!!

Isn't public humiliation part of the reason for flaming someone?

Why would one do it in private, and thereby risk being perceived as kind 
and helpful?

You gotta knock these newbies around in *public* folks; the whole point 
is for people who are in the know to make sure the newbies are put in 
their place. . .
