The only way of getting a hfc-based card to work in TE mode not using
HiSax is bristuff/zaphfc. I have not checked with mISDN.

I works without problems on 2.4, if you are on Debian i even have
zaptel-source modules packages that include zaphfc, that also should be
able to compile on 2.6 (not tested though)

I had the fritz running on mISDN in TE-mode (2.4 kernel) and everything
beyond the capi part was working. I simply didn't get any call
signalling on capi, but on the tty's i could see them.

Using the AVM binary capi drivers works extremely well and reliable with
the A1/Fritz! cards.
