[Asterisk-Users] Linksys / Cisco does not support the PAP2-NA

here is a snapshot with a Linksys tech. from the looks of this they have no clue what asterisk is, how sad is that!

Dooz Owings: is there any firmware backup info on the PAP2-NA. I would like any and all firmware revisions for the PAP2-NA and the backup process to pull a copy of the firmware off of the PAP2-NA

Dooz Owings: so it takes no updates ?
Dooz Owings: I find this hard to belive as it is the same as the PAP2, just not locked to vonage

Dooz Owings: I know the PAP2 takes firmware updates, how are the devices different on a layer one perspective
John Paul Vinoya: For now there is no firmware update for the device yet.
Dooz Owings: and no way to back up the firmware on the device ?
John Paul Vinoya: Yes.
Dooz Owings: So other than an RMA if the device has a problem there is no support for it ?
John Paul Vinoya: Have you tried to check from your ISP if they can provide you with the firmware update for this device?
Dooz Owings: I am the ISP
Dooz Owings: the device was designed to run on Asterisk. I want to deploy the device, but I dont want to do that if there is no support from Linksys / Cisco
John Paul Vinoya: Is your VoIP prvider Asterisk?
John Paul Vinoya: We can only provide physical connection for the device because the settings should be from your VoIP provider.
Dooz Owings: I am the VoIP provider, Asterisk is the VoIP software I have rolled out on my network for VoIP products to run on.
John Paul Vinoya: We cannot provide you support for the configuration with the device. We can only assist you with the physical connection.
Dooz Owings: so if the IVR goes dead, what is the RMA process ?
John Paul Vinoya: If the device is brand new, you can return it to the retailer. If the device is not under the warranty with the retailer anymore, you may return it to us.
Dooz Owings: address ?
Dooz Owings: do I have to include some type of note ?
John Paul Vinoya: No need to, just provide the nesessary information.
Dooz Owings: what is the nesessary info ?
John Paul Vinoya: You need to provide the receipt number. All the information that you need will be on our website.
