[Asterisk-Users] testing functionality (how do I do this?)

I want to setup a quick * box, and test out it's functionality using a
softphone, but the only thing I'm thinking is, even if I get my box up and
running properly, how will I call it!? I want to test things like the
voicemail system, and all that, befor eI start buying cards and adding them
in.
