The biggest problem with having replies go back to the original poster 
instead of the list is that on one else will be able to learn from the 
answers to question that was asked, and the mailing list archives will 
become useless as a source for information..

If that were the case a web forum would then become a better solution as 
a pure support resource .. and I hate web forums.. :)
