FWIW, I wrote a mass-fax application for sending updated price lists to
dealers a few years back. Had a bank of 6 modems.

We did some testing where we used both USR modems and MultiTech. The USR
modems had a transmission failure rate of around 10%, where the
multitechs were about 2%. I had done some research at the time on fax
modem recommendations, and the general concensus was that the multitechs
were one of the best for fax, but the USR V.Everythings were better for
data.

Other than the wall-wart transformers going bad, the multitechs did
well. We probably would have been better off with a rackmodem system,
but we were cheap... :-)
