If you don't know, then don't worry. Your life is simpler for it.
Oh, OK. Its a trunk signalling system, based on dual tones (not DTMF -
other dual tones). It sucks. It makes no sense in the age of digital
networks. Its heavily used in South America, parts of Asia, and parts of
Eastern Europe for E1s.
