(sticking my nose in here:) Yes, but it sounds like Gary, in addition, is
getting Red Alarms, which probably indicates a more serious problem...  Red
Alarm is a loss of sync from the other end, as I recall.  I have *not* found
that slow processor interrupt service or similar maladies cause this....but
always a first time I suppose...

The new Zaptel has the "zttest" program, which will tell you if interrupts
are being locked for too long.  This can cause the Error 500 messages you
are seeing.  Causes of interrupts being locked for too long can be:
graphics, frame buffer, IDE DMA.  There might be other things that cause
this error, I don't know.
