Not dumb, but you won't get a scientific answer. You will get opinion.

The best answer I can give you is whatever you are comfortable /
familiar with. Personally, I use debian sid (the unstable branch) which
is really quite stable. I've been running it for over a year. The
unstable bits are mostly in Gnome and other GUI apps, which you won't be
running on a server anyway.
