Crank up the syslog debug level to 5 on the 1204.
Even if you do not have a syslogd running (but you should) you
can still read all the ascii messages with ethereal.
This will provide pretty good debug messages.
When you are done debugging, I would suggest dropping
the level back down to 4.  It gets a little verbose.
