Well, even if your setup was using GSM there is something more wrong 
with your tests. The quality of iLBC and GSM are pretty similar if your 
packet loss is low. The much greater complexity of the iLBC codec, and 
its higher bit rate, is aimed at achieving a lower degradation of 
quality when paclets are lost.
