I encountered the same problem with the RPM for gnophone. I downloaded
the source and compiled it myself and it seemed to work. I have not had
much time since I got it to work to fully test, but it appears to be
working correctly so far. I was not able to get the RPM program to
remove this package, so I had to manually remove the binaries from
/usr/bin. The new binaries are compiled into /usr/local/bin. I hope this
was helpful.

I had it working on redhat 7.3, but had nothing but problems with Redhat
8, like the original poster.

I gave up and moved to using KPhone on linux.
