If your gateway is SIP and it uses "redirects" (most do). You are going to
have lots of problems with basic call features. Like transfer,  refers, 
hold...

Asterisk in not any-e-where near ready to act as a sip proxy. If your 
gateway
is something other then SIP you maybe all right.
