I have found some more information about my problem:

in /proc/zaptel, I have one file called 1
The contents of the file are as follows:

Span 1: WCFX0/0 "Wildcard X101P Board 1" RED
         1 WCFX0/0/0 FXSKS

Also if I type dmesg, the last 5 lines are:

Registered Tormenta2 PCI
Registered Tormenta2 PCI
Registered Tormenta2 PCI
Registered Tormenta2 PCI
Registered Tormenta2 PCI

Why would this register 5 times?  Also, if it registered, then why is it not 
detected with the modprobe command?
