[Asterisk-Users] Whats ENUM??

ENUM = tElephone NUmber Mapping

It's a standard to map phone numbers (E.164) to IP-Services. All numbers
are kept in DNS zone files unter e164.arpa. i.e. San Francisco (415)
would be unter 5.1.4.1.e164.arpa.

As the owner of a phone number you could provide information within your
zone on how you prefer to be contacted. E.g."1st call
tim at 123.123.123.123 via sip, if unavailable send email to
jeff at somewhere.net".

How does asterisk support ENUM in practice? Does anybody know what you
could do with it as of today?
