[Asterisk-Users] Xten / SIP Phones compared to GnoPhones

Actually, my company has been working for 4 months now on developing a
soft phone. The first version will be SIP only, and we will integrate
H323, and maybe IAX in the future (IAX will more depend on licensing
issues, our software will not be opensource).

The first version is going to be for Windows only, and we will later do
a port to Mac OS X, and maybe Linux. We will actually have a major
internal release on Monday, and will test it with Asterisk then.

We were wondering what are the functionalities and things people from
this list would like to see in a softphone. You can go crazy, and tell
whatever you want, we are interested... :)

We are already planning to support video, text chatting like yahoo or
MSN, communication encryption (for everything) in some future releases,
multiple lines on the client side, multiple registration on different
SIP servers, and in the future, registration at the same time on
different servers: SIP, H323, and maybe Asterisk Servers with IAX.
Whiteboard, application sharing, fax sending and reception, voicemail
indicator, etc...

The interface at first will be a messenger interface, for SIP server
that support presence you will be able to have a list of people like on
Yahoo or MSN and see your friends coming online and offline, and be able
to talk to them clicking on their name (already functioning in alpha
version).

We would appreciate any ideas to make a better client that people on
this list would like to see, and use.

Stephane.
