[Asterisk-Users] Modem connections

I'm having the same exact problem. I just hooked up my Tivos through
asterisk at home and neither can connect. Just for fun I tried dialing via
my laptop modem through asterisk to the same number my Tivos call. I hear
all the familiar modem handshaking/mating sounds but they won't connect at
any speed - even when I force my laptop modem down to 9600 baud. My laptop
and my Tivos connect fine when I connect them directly to POTS but they
don't work when connected through my channel bank to asterisk - even with
the "d" option enabled.

I would love to get this figured out, otherwise I have to go re-wire my
house.

Here Zap/17 is my FXS port and Zap/1 is my FXO port (both on the same
channel bank. Verbose logging:
    -- Executing Dial("Zap/17-1", "Zap/g1/2365320|120|d") in new stack
    -- Called g1/2365320
(60+ seconds elapse here while modems try to mate)
    -- Zap/1-1 is ringing
    -- Hungup 'Zap/1-1'
  == Spawn extension (test, 2365320, 1) exited non-zero on 'Zap/17-1'
    -- Hungup 'Zap/17-1'

The "-- Zap/1-1 is ringing" happens because when the connection fails after
60 seconds my ISP login drops me, the PSTN rings once and then says "if
you'd like to make a call, hang up the line and try again".
