And because the TDM hardwre is very expensive, I have asked for cheaper interfaces like BRI and FXO.<br>

Possible yes - but this is currently not supported in Asterisk, so you need E1/T1 if you want to interface to the outside world. But, Asterisk do have a TDMoE solution that you probably can use for testing between 2 boxes.<br>

However - I assume the testing here is for a project which means you need E1/T1 to connect to external equipment??<br>
