[asterisk-ss7] Chan_ss7 problem with the link

Hi:
I'm having a real problem with the library chan_ss7, wich Im using
with an asterisk system. The problem is with the link, because when I
do the command:: ss7 link status   It shows me all the status for the
signalling links and at the end a counter parameter::   total
5195248/5192672
I don't know exactly what means that total, but it increases a lot and
the voice star to go robotic and eventually the system falls.

I wonder if I can reset the link parameters or the counter?, (without
putting the link down)
