There are two things here.

One Type Approval needed is for hardware level certification, like FCC or
ETSI. These are available for the more well known E1 cards, such as those
from Digium and Sangoma, who claim and test compliance to FCC etc. These
tests are generally acceptable by local regulatory bodies (we've
participated in this process for Pakistan for example).

Secondly, we have SS7 Conformance Testing and this needs to be done, as you
said, for each country's specific variants in MTP2, MTP3 and ISUP etc.

None of chan_ss7, lib_ss7, or ss7box have been documented through this
process for public review for any country, afaik. I'm not too sure about
libisup, Cosini can better advise on that.

If someone on this list has access to SS7 Conformance testing equipment,
please please pipe up, we'd love to participate and get these puppies tested
and publish the results so that others can gain some sort of solace (or
grief).

It may also serve as a benchmark, feature check list, todo list and whatnot.
