In fact there's a paid movement towards MRCP support in Asterisk:<br>

That project is based in the UniMRCP (<a href="http://www.unimrcp.org">http://www.unimrcp.org</a>)
which is a great C project that provides a good abstraction to server
integrators and client developers.<br>
