[asterisk-speech-rec] DTMF Problem

I am experiencing an issue using Lumenvox speech rec in Asterisk 1.4.
If I respond to a SpeechBackground command using DTMF, I receive the
correct output in ${SPEECH_TEXT(0)}.  However, if I execute a second
SpeechBackground command and just let it time out with no input, the
${SPEECH_TEXT(0)} variable still contains the output of the first
execution.

However, there is no resolution.
