Well, that is not entirely accurate. The Asterisk Speech API includes both a generic layer (res_speech) and an engine-specific layer (res_speech_lumenvox for the LumenVox SRE). Asterisk 1.2 contains neither of these, and purchasers of licenses are given both of them. Asterisk 1.4 will include res_speech, but not res_speech_lumenvox (that will still need to be obtained when a license is purchased).
