Sorry to bring this up so late, but I've just got back from holidays and was reminded of it
by something on the VUC call on friday.

At the original Asterisk Developer meeting that (may have) kicked off this project, 
Brian and I were discussing how hard it is to implement telephony 'standards'
in Asterisk. 

One of Hydra's goals should be to make it easy to implement standard interfaces 
on top of it. I'm thinking of JAIN/JCC and JTAPI - but single vendor 
'standards' might be interesting too - like Twillio's api or even (shudder) TAPI3
