That is correct. The OpenR2 library currently does not support tapping.
That tapping feature is only available in Asterisk for PRI. The Sangoma
hardware does tapping well for any protocol running on top of E1/T1 and
Analog lines, but there is a layer of software required in order to
integrate it with Asterisk. That layer of software has only been written
for PRI.

There has been interest in the past from some people in having the solution
for R2 as well, however no one has sponsored the development, and given the
little amount of users wanting that feature and the amount of effort
required to make it work, I have not decided to do it for free yet.
