[asterisk-r2] Asterisk 1.6.2 and OpenR2

My question is similar to the one Thiago asked recently.  I have a stable,
running Asterisk 1.6.2 setup with libss7 and libpri that I do not want to
have to reload.  If my Asterisk 1.6.2 was not setup for R2, is there a way
to load libopenr2 and enable it without having to reload/recompile Asterisk
1.6.2?

I checked to see if openr2 was loaded when Asterisk 1.6.2 was installed
using the command # ldd channels/chan_dahdi.so | grep r2 but there was no
output.  I ran the same thing checking for pri and ss7 and I got expected
output for both of those.

So is there a solution for those who already have Asterisk in a stable,
running manner that want to add libopenr2?  Thanks in advance!
