I'll give an update when I hear anything.

Following Neil Stone's comment, if you are interested in hearing about a fax update, please start a new thread and don't reply to an unrelated thread. Its quite annoying to readers when that happens, and eventually many loose their willingness to help. So, if you were unaware, consider this a quick 101 of mailing lists. If you were aware, consider this a warning that if you want to be taken seriously, you'll have to be respectful.

--
Ryan Brindley
Digium, Inc. | Software Developer
445 Jan Davis Drive NW - Huntsville, AL 35806 - USA
main: +1 256-428-6000 fax: +1 256-864-0464
Check us out at: http://digium.com & http://asterisk.org

----- Original Message -----
From: "Rajesh Kumar ( Alshaya Group International )" <raj@alshaya-group.com>
To: "asterisk-gui@lists.digium.com" <asterisk-gui@lists.digium.com>
Sent: Monday, April 13, 2009 5:14:38 PM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central
Subject: Re: [asterisk-gui] Queue Agent Support Needs Major Rewrite

Hey any update on fax as Digium as released fax application hope to see it soon on gui

Regards,

Rajesh Kumar
Alshaya Group International
raj@alshaya-group.com
Tel (+965 2298-0555 Ext 307)
Mobile (+965 9722-4083)

----- Original Message -----
From: asterisk-gui-bounces@lists.digium.com <asterisk-gui-bounces@lists.digium.com>
To: Asterisk GUI project discussion <asterisk-gui@lists.digium.com>
Sent: Mon Apr 13 22:32:59 2009
Subject: Re: [asterisk-gui] Queue Agent Support Needs Major Rewrite

George,
You are definitely right, and both are known issues.

When I first got onto the GUI dev team and looked at the queues stuff, the 'secret' sharing was one of the first red flags I saw. Its since been proposed that an 'agentsecret' variable be in users.conf for the very reason. And while I can't update on the status of that feature, I can at least report that its acknowledged.

As for the 'an indication that the left hand doesn't know about the right...', besides that that comment is a bit unnecessary; its also just not true. If you look at http://bugs.digium.com/view.php?id=14459, you'll see that we were aware of this at least in Feb (although I'd claim more like Nov of 08), and that its a blocker for the next release of the open source GUI. The reasoning for the delay in development can simply be explained by listing my schedule. Good news is that its next on the list. :-)

When I begin development on AddQueueMember (replacing AgentCallBackLogin), I'll report back to this thread on the svn branch if you're interested in helping test.

--
Ryan Brindley
Digium, Inc. | Software Developer
445 Jan Davis Drive NW - Huntsville, AL 35806 - USA
main: +1 256-428-6000 fax: +1 256-864-0464
Check us out at: http://digium.com & http://asterisk.org

----- Original Message -----
From: "George Pajari" <George.Pajari@netvoice.ca>
To: asterisk-gui@lists.digium.com
Sent: Monday, April 13, 2009 2:04:56 PM GMT -06:00 US/Canada Central
Subject: [asterisk-gui] Queue Agent Support Needs Major Rewrite

Just started to try to use the queue agent and the current
implementation of the Asterisk GUI essentially renders these features
unusable for us.

The major problem is that the agent login password, incredibly, is the
same as the SIP secret. Obviously this needs to be changed so that the
agent passwords are
separate and independent of any other authentication information (for
SIP or whatever). (I won't comment on the fact that this little gem
appears not to be documented anywhere.)

A less important issue but an indication that the left hand doesn't know
about the right is the fact that AgentCallbackLogin is deprecated in 1.4
(and is removed in 1.6) yet is still being used in AsteriskGUI 2.

I'll hand code some stuff in the extensions.conf so we can use queues
but either the queue support in Asterisk GUI needs to be fixed or
removed. To have those tabs suggesting that queues can be used through
the GUI is just cruel temptation.

--
George Pajari (dCAP), netVOICE communications 604 484 VOIP(8647) x102
www.netvoice.ca www.ip-centrex.ca www.ip-pbx.ca www.vpas.ca
www.digium.ca www.grandstream.ca www.sipura.ca www.snom.ca
Open Source VoIP/Telephony Specialists 1 877 NET VOIP (638 8647 x102)

_______________________________________________
--Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com--

asterisk-gui mailing list
To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit:
http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-gui

_______________________________________________
--Bandwidth and Colocation Provided by http://www.api-digital.com--

asterisk-gui mailing list
To UNSUBSCRIBE or update options visit:
http://lists.digium.com/mailman/listinfo/asterisk-gui
